Learned how to code with cursor

I started learning to code because I wanted to know what it really takes to execute on a design, to feel the weight of the work, and to see the whole picture.

As soon as I wrote my first lines using cursor, I felt a sudden sense of power. I'm not designing anymore, I was building.

It was like learning to speak a new language and finding out I could write my own stories.

Best sunny Saturday ever spent in my career.

The biggest hurdle

Setting up the files was actually the hardest part so far.

Since my goal is to push the product ready code, I want to make sure my set up is as close as possible to the production main repo.

What did I learn?

Design systems are the new code for product UI.

If I could go back, I’d start my design journey with the front end. The fastest way to learn a design system, to hack the UI, is to reverse engineer tools like shadcn—Radix UI and Tailwind. Take it apart, see how it fits, and put it back together in your own way.

Designers are in the best position in this new AI wave. We have the clearest view of the user, and now, the tools to build what matters. It’s our time to shape great products, end to end.
